Leak Finding Tips

Below are documents you might be able to use to isolate leaks within your residence or fixtures  The documents are not intended to cover all possibilites and you may need to consult a qualified plumber.  You may also want to read conservation tips under the News & Notices section.  Common sources of customer's leaks when not in the personal line to the meter include:  toilets (flappers/valves); faucets and sinks; hot water tanks; pressure regulator (PRV);  water softner; whole house humidifier; old wells; exterior hoses; lawn hydrants (ofter leak underground) and where the personal line connects to the meter - either in the meter pit/well or at other connections.  Also take a look at the FAQ (frequenty asked questions) section under the resources tab for addtional information.

 JUST Because you DON'T hear your toilet - Does NOT mean there is no leak with the toilet(s).

Toilets are the leading cause of household water leaks.  A leaking toilet can waste anywhere from a few gallons to over 1,000 gallons per toilet PER DAY!
